Application Form Help - Meeting of Requirements

I'm in the middle of filling out an online application form for a job that I meet all of the requirements of, bar one. I'm applying anyway as the worst that can happen is I'm rejected.

Anyway, as it's an application form it has a section of four questions (you know the type), the first being to demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the role.

Now as I said, there is one requirement I don't have experience of, should I.....
  • Include the requirement and say unfortunately I don't meet it but I'd be willing to put in the extra work to learn it
  • Include the requirement and say unfortunately I don't meet it but point out how well I meet all of the other requirements
  • Ignore the requirement and match all of the rest
I feel ignoring it completely will send the wrong message, but at the same time I don't want to put them off right away by seeing I don't have one requirement for the experience they're looking for.

If anyone has any other suggestions on how to deal with it then I'd be grateful :)

To be able to read sheet music :embarasse Without giving too much away, in all other aspects it's an administration role but a particular type of administration, of which I have experience. My current role is extremely similar to it (same job title as well) but unfortunately my contract is ending and so I need to find a new job.

I used to play an instrument and read sheet music as a kid but there's no way I could get away with doing it now. I'd be willing to try and pick it up again in my own time if this resulted in me getting the job.

Then you need to say that you have had previous experience of playing an instrument and reading sheet music as a child and have a basic knowledge but are willing to improve this skills as part as the postition.

That's what I would put shows you have the ability of the skills and not totally blind to it.

and then start remembering Every Good Boy Derserves Football and FACE that's all I can remember :)

Hehe, thanks! I was thinking of mentioning I used to do it as a child, maybe I'd get lucky and pick it up like I never stopped!

Oooh I think I know the job that you mean!

    EDIT:No I don't! I just checked

What I suppose you need to think about is that if you can read treble clef, can you read bass/tenor and guitar tab?

Personally I'd say I had experience of it, I might say 'past' experience, and I'd be mugging up like crazy in case there was a practical test at interview! I wouldn't overclaim - my Grade 4 piano and Grade 5 theory would be there, I wouldn't mention that I failed Grade 5 piano!

Don't say 'but', it's a negative word.. change it to 'and'.

I can't figure out what job would require you to read sheet music but not use it to play an instrument or sing... This is going to baffle me all day, thanks OP!

I find that reading music is definitely like reading a bike where you never quite forget, or like a foreign language where you can't just pluck it out of the air but when you really need it you can dredge it up from the recesses of your brain somehow!
