We have an AIP for our remortgaged, we applied with broker to Halifax. We put in full applications then heard from solicitors asking us to fill loads of forms about saving and the deeds. But no formal offer. No valuation. Is this normal when we bought our house we had a formal offer within days. What can go wrong between AIP and the formal offer????

Loads. An agreement in principle is only saying that they will lend to you based on their criteria of that day providing what you tell them was the truth and no new information comes to light.
The fact its gone to solicitor for further details indicates it has got past the early stages. They are now just verifying some of the details. As Thrugelmir says, you are best asking your broker to be sure.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
He said he had three cases going through at present and they have a back log. But reading previous threads others say no backlog. He doesn't seem worried.0
