What prospective new employers are asking for

I've applied for an admin position, through an agency, that will be paying just over £14k a year.
As part of the application process, I have already had a telephone interview (with a competency based question thrown in), a numerical test and an english test.
I got through that bit okay and now I have an assessment centre to go to, consisting of a group exercise, another numerical test, a verbal reasoning test and a competency based interview!
I anyone else finding this at the moment? It seems an awful lot to go through!

On the face of it, initially, I would say this is an unusual employer and one with a lot of money to spend in its recruitment processes, perhaps an in-house assessment centre which it might as well use as not because of associated fixed costs.
However if that is all there is (ie no further interview or site visit before a job offer), then it isn't all that much for a company which probably is able to offer career progression rather than just a job for £14K with no prospect of moving forward.0 -
I agree with the above but if it is a junior position I'd be surprised at putting a candidate through all of this. Sounds a bit OTT.0

I had a interview for a job paying similar to the OP and had to do a telephone interview with competency based questions and online behaviour reasoning test. I then had a face to face interview with the employer which included another assessment.
Employers can afford to be very fussy now because of the current job market.0 -
Perhaps they are seeking to fill more than one role, or are looking for people who will be able to progress within the company rather than just 'filling the gap' currently there?
More companies are introducing these recruitment techniques, and practising them on junior roles is a good way for them to preapre for higher level hires as well - lots of reasons for it.
Good luckSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
