How do you remain happy whilst trying to pay off debts?

I also think having a little amount of money for treats goes a long way to feeling good. Also, I'd been so worried about my debts that when I started to see the amounts going down, that in turn made me feel good and motivated me to carry on.
Things are pretty tight for us in Always Poor Towers, but we enjoy going out as a family for a look around a car boot sale - today's purchase of Pinga for my 3 yr old was brand new, cost me 20p - and she's smiled all day and played with her, and is now cuddled up fast asleep with Pinga!!! 20p and a day full of smiles - can't say we used to manage that with a new £30 toy xLloyds TSB Personal Loan £17,000 £961.45 £0 :j
Barclaycard £4,897.38 £3359.29
Virginmoney £3,000 £2299.00 :eek:0 -
I'd be happy with that, knowing that you are in control, and all the payments are being met

I take the view, life is way too short, and there is always someone, somewhere, a lot worse off than what you are.
I recently paid off one of my debts. It wasn't a huge debt, but it felt good once that letter arrived to say that the debt had been paid and no further action would be taken...:)
That's the key for me - when things are getting on top of me I think of this, and not just those in really desperate situations of poverty, disaster or famine. The guys I went to school with who died in their 20s remind me I've got it good.0 -
Best way is not to think about it. Have all your arrangements in place and let those payments come out. Dont dwell on it. When I was deep into debt I used to worry and had to get out of worrying, now I like one pay packet away to paying off all my interest charged debts and no longer paying the banks for the first time since I was like 18 and dwelling on it and watching balances come down kinda feels good but is actually making me anxious and not too good for me. You need to keep that balance and just quiet your mind whether good or bad, dont dwell on the past mistakes dont envision you know... making a big purchase in 2012 or whatever because none of that will make you happy. Just live in the now.
I actually plan from next month, that I will check my Current Account, my Credit File, my Barclaycard/Cap1 accounts on the pay day every month and thats it. I go on see if I got paid ok, no fraudlent transactions and thats it, let my DD take care of everything, think about no money, or think on would big purchase I should make. Hopefully money will have little control over me. Savings accounts will also have a standing order, so I will be liberated from even thinking about money.
Also as much as this board has helped me I will not be posting here either so of the stuff can rub on you. You feel the anxiety and worry in some of the posts.0 -
I know from all problems you have in your life, debts could be something worst. Anyway you need to think that this won't long forever, of course if you keep paying them off. The other thing you can do is by thinking that there are people who have debts amount more than your. More or less it can help you to not feel so stress with the debts.0

This situation I'm in is not going to significantly change until the beginning of next year and I worry that the constant worrying is going to make me ill and that I'm going to be continually unhappy until then.
