    Re this...

then i think ill start on the boys room but same with their clothes, outgrown or worn through knees so need put in the loft (i cannot throw away or sell my kids clothes. 90%of DS2 clothes are like brand new and they were DS1 clothes) same with their toys. i cannot throw them away too many memories and not emotionally strong enough just now.

Why not turn this around into a plan to make new, happy memories by selling the bits and pieces to get some 'fun, family' money together and have a day trip or two to make some fun, happy memories as a Mum with her sons.

Its days like these that make the rest of the hard drudge of being a parent bearable.

Btw, how are you doing so far, we can be cheering you on as you post your successes, its a great motivator.:D

    'EAT YOUR FROG'

This is a turn of phrase I learnt on some time management course years ago. The 'Frog' represents the job/task/chore you least want to do. If you do that first you will get the greater sense of achievement and then all the other jobs will seem like a breeze.

    Alway eat your frog first

    Good luck

My tasks always always become so much worse when I try and split my time. My husband does one methodical thing at a time and although it always drives me mad he actually achieves more in the same hour as I do running all over the place like a crazy thing.

A great tip is also - never go upstairs empty handed or go downstairs empty handed during your purge.
If you pick something up, no matter where it goes take it straight to it's home - once you start "piling" things to go to one place or another suddenly you realise you've sorted your jumble into another jumble!!!

And also, get off the PC! ;)

have you maybe got a very good friend who might give you a hand?

Sometimes it helps if there is someone, who is a well organized person, who can just keep you on track.

Good luck with all this work and remember to keep calm and look after yourself.x

Must say I agree with Triker - new memories and a clean house to come back to after the trip away.

When it's tidy start small with the little one helping to tidy up after playing, bringing things to the laundry basket to help you to keep on top of it. I spent a good few years thinking I had to do everything for my two, they now know how to keep an entire house clean, themselves fed and all their laundry done, (although neither of them like ironing) as I realised they need to know how to do it themselves for when they eventually fly the nest,

    Hi

You're saying that you need to do alot of sorting / clearing out and getting rid of old clothes etc. Could you do some of that before your two days ?
I have a big charity bag in the corner as I come across kids clothes etc that I want to get rid of when I'm getting them dressed in the morning they go in the bag.
So you could get some of that stuff out of the house before those two days.

Best wishes I hope it goes well !

I would third the selling some of the stuff to spend on a really nice day out or two.
If you put it all in the loft then you're really only making more work for yourself.
Be ruthless you may find that you feel a lot better after for it, if you're not lugging all the excess weight around with you, you may find your mood lightens.
I'd do your room first, so that you have a nice calming space to sleep in, then the bathroom to have a good relaxing bath.
    Then the boys room.
    Lounge last.
Ironing, going through the cupboard can be done in small bites, evenings after the kids are in bed.
Along with ebaying anything that you can sell on.
Don't be too hard on yourself.

Do you have someone who can spend some time with you and help with the sorting out? I find it much easier and have also been the buddy encouraging my friend to throw stuff/ donate to charity/ ebay. I then took a load of her stuff to the tip. This practical help really made a difference x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • I would focus on the deep clean part the things you cant do easily with children under your feet. Start in your room then maybe set up a side of room to put bags of yours and childrens clothers that can be sorted out at your leisure over the next few weeks. Once the kids rooms are clean and some items removed it will be easier to keep on top of.

I hate it when I pull out wardrobe then get over whelmed and end up throwing it all back with out acheving from much. If your doing one bag at a time its easier to make decisions to sell/donate/throw.

Do you have anyone to help you even for hour or so? Invite someone over for coffee and chat (and get them to help for hour!)

I don't iron any of my kids clothes. I give them a good shake, then hang on line or airer, when dry I give them a shake again and put them away in wardrobe etc.

Only thing I iron is my Husbands work shirts.

    Zippy x
