Video clips won't play

I imported some video clips from my iphone4 to my desktop which is Vista. The photos are imported to Windows Gallery. The icon in windows gallery of the video clips is just a pic of a filmstrip as opposed to a snapshot of the video.
When I double click on it to play it I get a blank screen and the message 'this video can't be displayed'.
I am still able to play them ok on my iphone but not on the desktop.
Any idea on how to fix this would be really helpful.
Thanks a lot.

This will probably be due to Codecs. Do you have the Quicktime player?0

Download [ K-Lite Codec Pack 7.2.0 FULL
when it starts to download choose "run" as opposed to "save"

Thanks both for the codec advice - they will play now.
Next problem is that the clips are upside down and I can't see a rotate option. The iphone was probably upside down but thats not unusual for me!
Any ideas on how to fix it so we dont have to sit on our head to view them? !!!
Thanks a lot.0 -
Thats not going to be so easy to fix. You would need some kind of video editing suite software. Usually you can get a trial version for a one off task.
Try looking here http://download.cnet.com/windows/video-editing-software/0 -
Thanks for the reply - I did a new post about this and there were 3 suggestions of video flip type software which I am going to try.0
