Printer/scanner/copier £29.99!!

Options
Is this a bargain? My printer went bust so i was on the lookout for a new one,saw one advertised in Currys-Lexmark 2480-prints,scans and copies, ink cartridges only £14.99-in-store price! guess what no stock!.
Went to PC world (which is Currys sister store apparantly) now on show for£49.99. I then asked for a price match and with a slight hesitation they said OK. Grabbed it and now been using it for about 7-8 days and it's a cracking little printer for home use. So if you want a new inexpensive printer I can thoroughly recommend this one. GRAB YOURSELF A BARGAIN!! :j

  • I hope your experience is better than mine with Lexmark. Had 3 in total & all 3 gave up the ghost quickly. Great initial price but they are not good.
I now stick with Canon, they're made to last & are real workhorses. I wouldn't touch Lexmark now.

Replacement cartidges will cost more than the printer.

£14.99 per cartridge, only one cartridge required.(also one alreadyfitted in printer)

True, but to get black the printer combines all three colours which is ridiculous and very inefficient. Buy it and when it runs out of ink just use it as a scanner and buy a printer with a seperate black ink cartridge.

  • If it's the printer with one cartridge I would not recommend it. I bought a Lexmark a few months ago because of the predicted savings I would make using one cartridge. The problem is that the printers version of "black ink" is actually "grey ink" and it shows. If it's just for everyday printing then buy it. If it is for professional documents/CV's I would avoid it. I started to print my Masters dissertation and it looked poor so I ditched it.

I decided to buy another printer, a HP Deskjet F380 and it's absolutely brilliant! I also bought an ink syringe kit that works perfectly and also saves me a lot of money.

Hmmm, there's a thought, but as yet ther's still plenty of ink left after 8 days,so i'll work out if it' s worth buying ink when it runs out.(hope to get at least 3-4 months!)
