Blondie was a good looking piece of stuff?...had the hairspray to match
  • What are you talking about - the line up is pretty darn good for the money?! and besides it's not just music going on. flip sake anybody tries to do anything in this place and people always bring the negative. and besides there are only a few free tickets - the whole day isn't free for everyone.

Come on people let's show a bit of support! And to the naysayers above who are commenting on the 'poor' line-up, can I ask what your personal experience is of said line up to come to such a conclusion? Do you even know what kind of music any of them play? We have already got our tickets for this, and are greatly looking forward to it! Particularly Swanee River and Tommy Shots. I don't think you'll find either of those acts "a mixture of traditional Irish music mixed with a bit of Indie..."

On another note did you know they tried to organise Stendhal 3 years ago but members of Limavady council objected on the grounds that it would take place on a Sunday... this is the kind of mentality that shouldn't be causing obstructions in the 21st century, especially in a part of province that is in dire need of investment through the holding of events such as this. Please get out there and show your support!!!!

Or if you can't be a*sed, fair enough, just keep buying your tickets for Westlife and X-factor also-rans year after year at the Odyssey, but don't make unfair sweeping generalisations on genuine events that are being organised for genuine music lovers.

Same here. I lived in Limavady for a while and I know the scene there, its traditional Irish music mixed with a bit of indie. drab..drab..drab.....no E's being sold there, just blues and marajuwana LOL

Given a lot of the bands are not from Limavady, makes this a very odd statement. Not sure you really know any scene LOL....but I agree with screwedagain this is the type of thing where I used to live needs to give it a boost and it actually is a good line up, usually festivals up here only have local bands, this has bands from ireland and england playing. So I'm happy to support.

I'm also thinking the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, andy Irvine and Turin Brakes might disagree they aren't good at what they do! :)

I know the Irish music scene inside out and go to gigs in the !!!!!! of nowhere weekly as well as attending festivals all over Europe. This is a dire line up of bands other than Steve Martin it looks like a load of bands that werent good enough for Glasgowbury. Turin Brakes are an ok semi successful band but they arent a band to get a crowd in a field up dancing and singing along. I can appreciate what they are trying to do as an event but id rather they used whatever funds they have to book 2 decent crowd friendly bands rather than and a dozen no names, No names dont sell tickets and unfortunately sad as it is the majority of ticket buyers are the Westlife, Xfactor crowd. General fiasco, Ash, Undertones, Divine Comedy all perfect to headline a new festival

Well known acts demand and usually get better money. Smaller and newer festivals struggle in this unless they have a generous/rich benefactor, a unique selling point, specific genre etc. The website could be better though. No info as to number of stages, who's playing when, how much for a weekend ticket etc. So much basic info is just not there. Having said all that if I lived closer I'd give it a go for a day ticket.

The tickets are great value for money for what you get, but yes better bands costs more but that evens itself out with increased ticket sales. The fact that http://www.sunflowerfest.co.uk is on the same weekend probably doesnt help. Maybe a band swap should have been done?

  • I feel like I've opened a can of whoop on this, to correct was only taking the hand out of Pretani about the scene in Limavady, and was only in jest, sorry Pretani!! :) Here, I'm definitely not one to be talking about the scene artofdookie (music novice) but I do think for the amount and the fact it is their first year it really is pretty good. Speaking to my mate up in Limavady there's seems to be a good vibe about it, I think a lot helped by the price.

It appeals to my sense of a calmer sort of festival and the idea of trying some art etc and honestly just a chance to do something different for the weekend without breaking my budget and I get to take a carry out! Not sure comparing them to Glasgowbury, especially in their first year is a fair one. Band swap does sound a good idea, I saw the sunflower one and it looks similar but for me, its the price of tickets (me only) and I want to support my old town.

Eamon ticket prices are up on the website. I'm not sure about band times, the OH says they usually go up a couple of weeks before but maybe someone else here will know better?

Wasn't expecting much but it surpassed sll expectations and did the heart good to see kids and the party animals mixing, a lot of people too. And the weather couldn't have been better!!! recommend this to anyone for next year.
