Returns policy at Comet - any ideas?

Received a lovely Christmas present today - I know its from Comet cos there is a label on the back.
However..........
I don't want to offend my relative by asking for the receipt because that would be admitting I don't want the gift (I already have 4 of them!) so does anyone know if i can get my money back just by taking it back to the store?
Kind Regards

Taken from their website:
Question
I have been given an item as a gift for Christmas but do not want it, can I return it?
Answer
We guarantee that any purchases made from us between the 7th November and 24th of December inclusive can be exchanged for any item of equal value.
The gift must be returned unopened, complete with all its packaging and the receipt. You can return the gift back anytime up until the 18th of January 2007. Do note we can only refund payment back to reflect the original method of payment. This offer excludes software.0 -

You could still try, a receipt is not necessary if it can be proved other ways,(label on back!), that it was purchased from said retailer, however they are under no legal obligation to swop/refund/exchange if nothing wrong with item, their terms and conditions supplement your statutory rights.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

They are under a legal obligation to do just as their sign said, when the purchase was made (provision of the contract).
Just because it is in addition to your statutory rights, does not mean it is not legally enforceable.
It gets a bit more complicated due to you being a thrid party however.
Why don't you just try it and see what they say?

I think the problem is with no receipt that people could steal stuff from the store and go back another day and get a cash refund.0

I believe they may allow returns but only for the lowest price now and they may give you a credit voucher not cash..The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0
