Half paid for an online course

A few months ago I went a bit crazy and paid for an online distance learning course. The course consisted of two qualifications, a level 2 and a level 3. I was sold them as a package. However, I failed the level 2 exam and therefore technically cannot complete the level 3 because of this, unless I keep paying for resits until I pass, which I cannot afford to do now I have shelled out so much on the course. I have half paid for the course and to be honest now recognise that it wasn't worth it.

Any advice? Thanks.

Unfortunately I think you are liable for the remaining fees.

By how much did you fail ? May be worth a resit if you failed by a few marks

  • There's no way you'd get a refund therefore I'd say find out when the next two rounds of the exam resits are and pick one you feel is do-able with some study. It would be a shame to get this far and not get further although I recognise certain quals aren't for everyone. I'm afraid it's either that or lose the money.

The course provider should have offered you some sort of Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) depending on what the qual. is. within this IAG you should not have been enrolled for a course you could not do. I say this because when you signed up for it you couldnt do the L3 as you didnt have the L2 then (or now of course) it may be worth pursuing. Again this depends on the course & training provider.
