Should I say about job offer?

The situation is Im currently temping for a company through an agency, I was given no length of time the role was likely to be for but was told they do employ a lot of thier temps. This seems to be the case as around half the staff there have temped through the agency before.
A few days ago I spoke to the manager, I was upfront and asked if they were planning to keep me on etc and he said he would let me know by the end of the day. This was 3 days ago now and Ive still not heard anything, 2 girls on my team seem to act like they know but arnt allowed to tell me, they just keep asking has XXX spoken to you yet etc

Anyway I really need to know one way or another, even if Im not going to be made permanent at the very least I need some kind of indication how long the temporary role is likely to be for.

I had a voicemail today from a company I applied for a while back, they've offered me a job and want a pretty much immediate start. I won't lie the job is pretty rubbish and salary is poo and nothing at all related to what Im currently doing (related to my degree etc).
However this is where the problem is, I have to know asap about my current position, if it will go perm then that is obviously where I want to be however if that's not going to happen I need to know now because I would be a fool to turn down this other job because Im that desperate for money I can't chance turning it down and then not being kept on either.

So the question is, should I speak either directly to the manager or the agency? and if so should I just say I need to know so I can make plans or tell them about this other job offer. My concern is whilst mentioning the job offer might force the issue with them I am worried it could backfire and the might think there is no issue with letting me go....

If they think highly of you then the job might go in your favour and they could make you perm.

Id mention it again and say you would like to know either way,
  • I'd mention it and tell them that your old company has called you up to make you a job offer but you're really keen to stay where you are.

Hmm.. play them off but in a good way, not a desperate way as they will can you. I would get some good work lined up one week and clearly show it off to the boss of the company, then you should be more believable. It's likely the quality of your work is now being looked at so make sure its tip top.

Don't tell the agency they are pimps and only want the intro fee if they take you on remember that.

Say you've been offered a job elsewhere. You'd love to turn it down and stay where you are, but you'd need to be a perm to do that. Are tehy able to get back to you on their decision?

if you are paid by the agency you have to tell them first and they then will call the job where you are working and maybe then they will make you an offer

    good luck

I wouldn't say I had a job offer elsewhere if you haven't. They may just let you go and then you won't be able to temp for them again.
