Extra free Tesco clubcard points trick

Options
If do your shopping at Tesco and you pick up the offers they appear on the receipt as something like this

Item 1 : £3.49
Item 2 : £3.49

Total : £7.98

Multibuy : Buy one get one free -£3.49

Total £3.49

If you hand you clubcard in at the counter you will get 3 clubcard points because you have only spent £3 but if you don't hand your clubcard in and then take it to the customer services to scan the barcode on the receipt you will receive points on the total balance before discounts. In this case you would get 7 points.

Every little helps.

  • hi..as you say every little helps.... but be carefull with manual points added.....

as anther mse'r had a letter from h.q saying about the unusual amount of points put on manually....

so... even though this sounds like a good loophole....i will only do it now and again......

but thanks for the tip off................

One of my favorite tricks is to find receipts on the ground that nobody used a clubcard for, then take it to the customer services counter to put the points on my card :)

I don't think these are classed as manually added as all the customer services people have to do is scan the barcode at the botton.

Apologies for sounding critical, but aren't there better ways of spending precious time than scouring the floor for old receipts?

Not really. I thought maybe it'd be a better use of time to go on chat forums and critique other people's actions, but thought that'd be a bigger waste of time.

I realise a flaw in my original comment, is that OP was only giving an example to illustrate the point.

I suppose if you do large shopping trips and you know you have a lot of bogofs in your trolley you might decide to do it and earn more than 4p. But for me it would have to be an extraordinary amount of bogof for me to do it, and as my shops are rarely over 20 pounds total anyway it just wouldn't ever happen for me.
  • I don't find it much effort to do at all, the customer service desk in on the way out and you can just hand it over when you leave or you can save the receipts up and have them all added in one go.
