Months ago someone alerted MSErs to a 3 DVD box set for £4.99 at HMV
(It contained 3 horror movies). Today I got an email saying sorry for the wait from the suppliers and that my card would not be charged until they can get it - if they can get it.
Is anyone else waiting for the boxset - or indeed did anyone get it ?
The reason I ask is that in my local HMV shop I have seen stacks of them but not at the £4.99 price.

I ordered a triple film boxset (not the same one) on the 3/11, which is still on back order.
Had loads of e-mails, but not any closer to receiving them. :mad:0 -
Sorry, I didn't order this product, but interesting to read this thread anyway, because I ordered a DVD from them back in November, that said it had a 3-5 day availablilty, and I have received multiple emails since which (sort of) apologise for the delay and assure me that the credit card hasn't been charged. Very, very irritating. I'm not impressed with HMV. The DVD I ordered was a BBC TV programme, so I'm surprised they find it so hard to get. I've bought from cdwow and play with no problems like this.0

Yes I ordered it in October when they had 20% off so it will only cost me £3.99 IF/WHEN they send it.
I have a feeling they really don't want to send it (probably cost a few pound in first class postage to send!) so they don't really try to get it for you.
Interesting because as I say there are lots in the shops of the same item. Luckily I don't really need it - I don't even like those films - I was only getting it because it was SO cheap - serves me right I suppose.
Perhaps I am just being an old cynic - well it is Christmas :rotfl:0 -
I'd ordered the Matrix boxset as part of their daily xmas deals thing, intended it as a xmas pressie, and although it returned to full price next day with "dispatch within 2-5 days" it took over 3 weeks to appear. Even phoned them when i got worried about it arriving in time, the guy on the phone said the item was on order from suppliers, when i pointed out the dispatch times on the site for the (full price) stock he fobbed me off with the comment "thats once we have it in stock from suppliers" *headslap*
I was lucky in it arriving in time in the end, but their online service is terrible considering, as you say, you can pick up the items in store. I fully understand that they are often overwhelmed, but the easy way to solve that problem is use the stock they have on their own shelves to send to customers who've bought the product. No need to wait for supplies then!:rotfl:0 -
I have found out that with the mail order service all items come from Jersey to avoid VAT (all LEGAL) which is why they don't offer a collect and reserve service. I still have 4 things to come from Xmas orders but the prices were so good that I don't mind waiting and they have at least been sent. I suppose they do have to get stuff SENT to Jersey before they can send it to us otherwise they/we would have to pay the VAT.0

Continuing to have problems with HMV online - they keep marking items as dispatched, I don't hear anything (not even a 'dispatched' email) for weeks and weeks, then have to email them and get into the loop of them not reading my mails properly,
- sending me inaccurate information,
- then telling me to wait 21 days after dispatch, (which I've never been told),
- then sending me the automated email telling me to check my account,
- then asking me if I wanted to re-order,
- then telling me the dispatch date (first order)....
They are an absolute nightmare to contact, had real difficulty getting hold of them on the phone. A CD I ordered in November for Xmas is still to arrive, and they haven't properly answered my query sent to them in mid-December yet!
Avoid, avoid, avoid!0 -
I noticed they have dropped the dispatched emails....I just see items have been dispatched in the list of orders now. Sometimes something dispatched before another item turns up first ! Am waiting for four items at moment but early days yet - I love to hear the thud through the door when they arrive. Even DVDs that cost less than £3 each are sent separately - must cost them a fortune in post/packing!0

I cancelled an order to get an item elsewhere (for about an extra quid, but it was in stock) and they've okay'd that, only my e-vouchers haven't been updated to refund the money. Looks like I'll have to sit on hold for a long while tomorrow....:rotfl:0

I've generally had a terrible experience with HMV Online when there have been problems. I ordered Resident Evil 4 on the GC from them in August (it was on backorder and stated it would be dispatched within 6 weeks) and they led me on for 3 months that the order was going to be fulfilled, only to tell me at the end that they would no longer be fulfilling the order. They provided no updates over the 3 months on my order and every time i rang up to ask about my order I was told different things by different people. At the end one cow on the phone said they received the supply of the game but werent able to supply me with a copy because it was on a first come first serve basis, when in actual fact they didnt receive anything and I basically had to force that out of the manager.
Anyway overall a !!!!!! experience. I guess the true test of a company is not when things have gone smoothly with your order but how they act when there have been problems and in the respect HMV have been pathetic.0
