I can't understand why Martin doesn't tell you that when you sign up for your so called 'free' report you cannot get it until you ring equifax's 0844 number at 5p per minute (no mention of how long the call may be, but I will be paying something for it after all), as I am doing it this evening and they are now closed, I cannot get anything done until Monday. What a total waste of time. I am really annoyed. I wouldn't have even bothered had I known that you can't see your report straight away. And you have to pay for the phone call to cancel it, so definitely isn't free! Then I'll probably get the same level of customer service you got when I get hold of them. Rubbish!

You don't always have to ring them to get your report. It depends on whether they have enough info to be confident of your identity from what you enter online. When I got my report I didn't need to phone them as I was able to provide sufficent info that they established my identity. Its just a security procedure (though obviously would be much better if wasn't a premium line - thats not good at all).

When you cancel you could try the 020 number listed in this article - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score#check

How to cancel: To request cancellation call 0844 335 0550 (020 7298 3000, and ask for customer services can also work) and quote your product reference.
