Organic food

Hi

I am on an anti candida diet and have to eat only organic meat and veg + wild salmon.

Please does anyone know where I can get these at a reasonable price?

Thanks

  • Sainsburys are the best I find for reasonably priced organic stuff but I would suggest going online to find a source of meat rather than the big supermarkets. Someone like Abel and Cole's weekly veg and fruit boxes are probably worth looking at.

I was on a non-yeast diet many years ago, and that meant not having no sugar source at all in my meals (no fruit, alcohol, soya sauce, bread (except rye)..) i didn't go organic, but just read a book on a natural diet, and within 3 mths, i was free from candida. altho' i lost a bit of weight (7.5st), i felt happier and more energised as I cut the stuff that my body was so used to from decades of eating the same thing over and over. nowadays, i suffer with IBS instead:( but only occasionally.

have you heard of the Local Veg Box Scheme? There must be one if you live close to a city or a decent size town. They're all organic, and seasonal too with a good variety of veg to obtain on reasonably priced boxes. google it and see what comes up for your area. If you know someone with an allotment, they're always giving stuff away. I do to my neighbours when I have gluts (atm, I have mange tout and salad leaves!)

    Hi

Nice to hear that someone knows what it is like. The selection of veg is all green and limiting, no fruit except lemons etc, no bread, potatoes etc but they insist on organic as they will not have pesticides.

However I have lost a stone in two weeks, which is a bonus.

How long until you felt better?

Veg box is a very good idea..There are quite a few to choose from depending on where you are.

I loved my box scheme and I am sure you would be able to tell them what you can't eat so that they can leave that out etc

No advice really about Salmon other then try to avoid ASDA's if possible as every time I have had any ( I never learn) it is never at it's freshest.

this is the book i got (library copy)which i used as my guide. i didn't want to use Canestan (the usual drug of choice). it stated that I had eliminate all foods related to sugar and yeast. so that meant nothing with any type of sugar or yeast in. as i was on a fairly healthy diet at the time (i cook from scratch) i didn't eat snacks, biscuits, pop etc., what i used as the alt. to bread was to buy Rye bread (from Sainsbury's) and used unsalted butter. it was really hard to not drink alcohol and i stuck to tomato juice  whilst my friends were getting merry:cool: each w/e... i remember it took about 3 months before my candida went away completely. as i wanted to do it naturally, this was the option i went for. it was hard work having to avoid fruit as i love fruit/juice.
you're having to all veg except green ones. that's v restrictive, whereas for me it was all veg (rainbow ones). i think you can have a dash of lemon, but not a great deal tho'. i wouldn't go as far as going completely organic as that will be v. costly to you. have you checked out the Local Veg Box Scheme in your area yet?
