My dream pot

I hope no one minds but I felt I had to tell you all about my new toy.
My old crock pot finally died after many many years of good service but due to the price of electric and the problems with moving all the time I was worried about replacing it and thought that maybe I would have to do without it.
My husband found the " Dream Pot" and as it cost so much I was really worried that it would not work or that it would be a waste of time but from some ebay sales I had the money saved up in paypal so thought what the hell and gave it a go.
I love it, I did a 1kg brisket with pots, carrots and onions with gravy in 8 hours and no electric connection.
This is truly a perfect money saving thing..You heat the food up on any type of stove for about 15 minutes (boiling) then put it into this pot holder and it finishes cooking in about 6 to 8 hours from nothing more then the heat of the first cook.
I wish I had found it earlier as it would have been perfect for taking on trips in the car.
It does cost about £120 for a 5 litre one but I am now sure it would save more then it's cost in about 6 months ( if not less now that the price of electric has gone stupid) and really doesn't seem to be breakable as there is nothing to damage.
It is like an old fashioned hay box but with less fuss.
If this post is wrong then please do feel free to delete it or move it as I don't want to spam or anything..Just thought this might be perfect for some folks who are looking at replacing a crock pot.

I bought a camping cookbook the other day that mentioned these. I decided they were far too expensive for what they are, but I'm glad you're enjoying yours!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Glad you're enjoying your dream pot0

Sounds like a variation on the haybox cooker.0

It is just like a haybox only portable and less hassle.
It is expensive but cooking in the caravan was about killing me as the heat from leaving things on for hours was just not possible, also it uses no end of bottled gas or electric and that was doing damage to my budget.
I was shocked that it worked and was so impressed with getting a stew dinner having done no more then 15 minutes cooking.
Which camping book do you have ?There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

I was considering buying one of these last winter but no one could give any feedback. Unfortunately I have other things to be spending money on at the moment so will finally get around to making a haybox this year (hopefully).
I liked the idea that it is so portable though - have you tried taking it on any outings? I don't think a casserole dish in a box of hay would stand up to my OH's driving style...0 -
We took beef curry with rice 50 miles and it coped with my hubby's white van man driving style.
The internal pot fits snug with the lid so there is not way it can move by the looks of it.
I had a haybox (hubby built a bit of a summer kitchen with root cellar and that was part of it) and will do so again ( going for a full summer kitchen with clay oven etc) once we leave the country but this seems to be a good way round the problem at the moment.
Makes pot luck dinners easier as well.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Which if fine if you have the room, I did (wooden box with hay etc) but don't now so this was the next best thing.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
