Halifax Mortgage Back-log???

hi there
i would like to know if anyone out there is in the same situation as me.....
I have applied for a mortgage (full application), the valuation has been done on the property and i have been told by my broker that the offer has been done.
its been 2 weeks since that and have been told that halifax have a back log in applications and thats why it is taking longer than expected.
Is that true and if so, how long will it take as im quite anxious on moving forward has everything is on hold due to the mort offer not being sent to the solicitor...

thanks...

I've used a broker twice for Halifax mortgages and they've stated a backlog each time for the weeks of delays.

I've gone direct to Halifax twice (one which actually turned into a completed mortgage) with no delays at all.

So, I don't know. Different departments?

I applied on 10 June evening and had survey done in a week. Final offer in 10 days. Not using a broker though.

Can you call them up and ask for an update yourself ?

I input an application on Tuesday and it was offered today. Fastest case I've had, off the top of my head.

im not sure if i can call halifax myself....
isnt that going behind your brokers back?
if this is normal time span with a broker then i feel at ease, otherwise if theres a delay and a potential problem, then i do need to know.

Once the valuation is done and come back ok, then i assume there isnt a problem with the application?
    just a real back log?

not aware of any issues with broker processing.. and KS mentions we often get offers within a week.. believe staff are heavily targetted on timescales

Is it an issue with outstanding information on your particular case

    No problems here either.

Case submitted Tuesday 28th , Valuation Monday 4th, Offered yesterday.

Once the mortgage offer is done brokers can print this directly from the Halifax back office system. Solicitors will have to wait for a copy in the post but it shouldn't take more than a couple of days at most.
  • Similar experience here, in fact I would go as far as to say Halifax were extremely fast in processing my direct application.

We were told today that they have a backlog by our broker. Guess we have to wait and see!

Thinking about it, the higher LTV cases with income proof and the cases which are "sampled" by audit will take longer. The question is, will you be lucky or unlucky?

I have always found them to be pretty quick, if it has been weeks this would suggest a problem.
