Overseas Mortgages.

I'm just flirting with the idea of buying a property in France and not sure where to start looking regarding getting a mortgage.

Would I have to have an overseas euro based mortgage or can I have one based in UK? If so. which would be better?

I understand that if I buy a second property here the mortgage would have to be a BTL. Would that apply to buying a 'holiday' home in France?

Apologies for my ignorance as this is my first step and thought I could get some good advice here as usual.

If anyone could direct me to any helpful sites that would be appreciated.

No you should be able to get a mge in sterling ... from my memory Abbey (now santander) did 2nd property pch in France. I'll try and dig out my old placement cards and see who else is there.

Usual status and affordability checks apply. LTV 75% from memory .. but times have changed !!

Hopefully a current adviser (try kingstreet) should be able to tell you whose in todays market for foreign property, lending in sterling.
