Student loan help!

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help with links/tips etc.
Here is my situation:
I am a 21 year old British-born citizen who lived in Canada for 3 years ('07-'10) while my father worked there (he got a police transfer.) I studied at Mount Royal University in Calgary, before returning to England last year (July '10) to transfer to Nottingham Trent University and finish my degree.
In Canada I received loans from the government and the province of Alberta (through Edulinx and Canlearn) because I have permanent residency there. Now I am back in the UK, I have been refused student loans through UK Student Gov. Loans because I have lived outside of the UK in the past 3 years.
I have contacted UKCISA (for international students) for their advice, who told me that I AM in fact eligible for UK student loans because I was living outside of the country due to a parent temporarily working overseas. I then told this to UK Student Loans, and forwarded them my father's work contract as well as a letter written and signed by him confirming the situation. I have still been denied after all of this. I have made so many phonecalls to different departments, e-mailed so many forms to them, and still nothing.

So here is my loophole: I am classed as a home student, not international, but am not eligible for either home or international student loans. I am going to try to re-apply for loans issued by the Canadian government instead, but they do not include a maintenance loan (to help cover rent/groceries/bills etc) and only cover up to 2/3 of my fees, meaning that I will have to find the remaining £1500 or so myself. Also whether or not they will grant me a loan is uncertain, so I cannot rely on it.
I am struggling to pay for my rent, groceries, general living costs as it is, what with a small part time job, and so paying for my fees on top of this will prove impossible. I do not get monetary help from my parents either. I have looked into getting out a loan with Natwest, but getting out loans which are not aimed at students scares me: I really don't want to end up in debt, owing lots of money and not knowing what to do.
Do I have any other options? Do loans exist that are meant for students and which are open to students who do not classify (somehow) for UK Student Gov. Loans?
Thank you so, so much for anyone who can offer advice - I really want to finish my education but at this rate, I'm not sure if I can. I have been estimated to receive a first or at minimum a high 2:1 for my degree. I feel like I am in a huge loophole here and just don't know what to do.
