Gordon, Our credit monitoring service and credit report score were both developed and launched to meet consumer demand, over many years actually, and we believe the prices we charge reflect their value. If you disagree then you can simply choose not to buy them, as I'm sure you do. By the way, the £14.99 monthly charge includes unlimited credit scores.

It's a rip-off. Fact. And it disgusts me more because you make the most money out of people that have the least of it. People struggling with debt, possibly on low incomes... but to get a true picture of how the lands lies credit wise they have to have over their credit/debit card details and pay you £14.99 A MONTH!!!

That's £179.88 a year they could be paying off their debt, and not wasting it on a number plucked from thin air.

I once paid for the online credit report, viewed it then decided to cancel once I'd got a full picture of my file. 6 months later I decided just to get the £2 report instead of being relieved of £14.99... for some reason the £2 report didn't match what the £14.99 report showed a mere 6 months previously, there were credit accounts missing, default information wasn't there... even though the defaults had YEARS to run before they would drop off my file. So your customers get mugged off with your £2 report as well.

well credit is a funny thing... if you have too much that's bad but if you spend too much that's bad... so you have to make sure that you don't have loads of credit available so perhaps get the Barclaycard reduced a bit? However the mortgage people look at the bad stuff like CCJ's and Defaults I believe.. xxx

    I can vouch for this!!!

I posted sometime ago that I am now, at last, free of bad debt. I have only the good debt now, mortgage, car finance etc and recently applied to revamp our mortgage. Well, it was refused, why, because Barclaycard still have a "default" on my file with Equifax!

I phoned Barclaycard, who were very apologetic and confirmed that I don't owe them a penny and the Equifax entry shouldn't be there! A letter is on its way from Barclaycard stating I don't owe them.

This hasn't stopped my bank from binning my mortgage application though, even though last October my bank literally threw £7000 at us to buy a static caravan with and almost begged me to have one of their credit cards!

Credit is indeed a funny thing!

Multidropper, when was the default put on there sweets? If it was less than 6 years ago it will stay there I'm afraid unless there was an absolute mistake on their part, even if you pay a defaulted debt it stays there for 6 years after it was put on but a paid default is a tiny bit better than an unpaid one :) xxx

On other notes, I disputed the amount of months in arrears to Equifax over an o2 account I settled in May, no response from o2 so Equifax have removed it altogether :) yay!! xxx

Thanks for that, I'm not entirely sure when it was put on there. It just seems strange that all of a sudden it causes problems now, after I got my mortgage and other stuff from the bank last year?

I'm sure I'll get it sorted though...
