working out tax rebate for period April 2011 to present

Is there a calculator available or can someone tell me how to work out how much tax I should have paid so far this tax year?

From April to May I was with Job A still and on 747L tax code, I moved to Job B in June but stayed with Job A on a 0 hr contract. Job B I was on tax code BR.

I filled in a p46 in June and only last week they changed over the codes. The tax notifications are still to arrive so i'm still on BR at Job B.

I phoned up again today and was told they can take 2 weeks to arrive!

I asked about tax refunds and the guy started telling me that from now on I should be on a week/month 1 thing so the tax starts again and to phone back with the details of wages from April till June to workout if I need my codes changing (I think thats what he was going on about), I don't want my codes changing again, i want my overpayments back.

So before I spend 20mins on hold again I want to know if i am due a rebate or not.

Gross = 3867.03
Tax = 436.80

    Assuming both jobs are monthly paid and you have been paid up to month three (paydays falling between June 6 and July 5) with a total gross of 3867.03

    3867.03 less freepay of 1869.78 gives taxable of 1997.25 with tax due on that of 399.40, so at the moment 33.40 tax overpaid.

    This will not alter the tax due back a great deal. Do you know yet what codes are being used and on what basis, if any are applied on a week 1 month 1 basis as your post suggests then there will be no tax back on that job untill a cumulative code is used.

    Currently it's 747 on Job A and BR on Job B though it has changed to BR on Job A and 747 on Job B. From now on (when the codes can changed at my jobs) it will on a week month basis. What is a cumulative code?

    I assume that you mean a week 1 month 1 basis. This means that the tax due is worked out looking only at the current week's or month's earnings, no allowance is made for previous weeks' or months' earnings, so no tax rebate would be made, or indeed no extra tax colected that might be due. If you just swap codes one job would need a tax rebate and the other job would need to pay extra tax, which might not be possible if earnings are low. When the codes are changed if you can advise details for each job and likely earnings in the future for each job it could be worked out if cumulative codes could be used.
