How To Prove I Have Paid PLEASE HELP!

About 18 Month ago, I managed to pay all debts I owed, and in one day spent £8000 + ringing around etc to get these all sorted.
Recentl I have had a letter from Robinson Way Ltd (originally to the wrong address). Stating I owe £400 from an Ex Burtons Account. This debt was one I paid, and was originally with them, I have checked my Credit Report to see this, but it doesnt show as an Active or Inactive debt.
Can some please help? Or advise where I go...

How did you pay? Can you prove you paid from your bank statement?
Or a combination of a letter showing the balance before you paid and then the bank statement?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
It was paid with my Mothers Debit Card, I am struggling to find the statement and I did pay multiple debts at the time.0

If you know the date paid - your mother can request a statement for the relevant time. This would show the amount and who was paid.
Hope you manage to resolve this.0 -
did you pay the debt in full at the time or did they agree to settle the account for a % of what was owed?
just wondering if they are now chasing what was left?0 -
Yes as said just go into the bank with your mother and make a request for the statement.According to ABBA apparently it's a rich mans' world . . .:p0

I paid an agreed percentage. But the agreed amount was to close the debt down.
Thanks for the statement advice I will go in sometime soon0 -
Okay, so I have rang them and let thme know the goings on. They claim the debt is from GE Capital Bank, when I check back, I had that debt woth Link Financial Ltd, although the accounts on the letter don't match. Robinson Way Ltd have not been or no one has been in contact in regards to their claimed debt for 5years either. Plus the letters Robinson Way are sending looked typed from a type writer and it's slanted to one side, i am beging to think it's dodgy. HELP!! lol0

Hi Matt
Sorry your post isn't ever so clear.
Is this still the burton debt or a different debt? and Link were previously the DCA collecting this debt? Did you pay link at all, either installments or a settlement?
I would start by sending Robinson Way a prove it letter - that way they'll need to provide proof of the debt - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11570893&postcount=2A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

It wont be. Robinson Way are a big and reasonably ethical company. They would not make debts up.

It says Ex Burtons which is GE Capital Bank. Which was paid through Link Financial, when I made Robinson Way aware, they began to suggest it may be a totally seperate account, but I only ever had one Burtons Store card. Link Financial have kindly agreed to send me a letter shwoing final payment any way.0
