The burnt mulled wine

In my absent mindedness I left some mulled wine on the hob and found it later all burnt onto the bottom of the pan like toffee. OH was convinced we'd need to bin the pan but in true old style I did the following
Sprayed white vinegar on the mess. Filled the pan with boiling water. Added soda crystals to the pan. Left overnight. Woke up and found the 'toffee' floating at the top. Literally banged the pan on the side of the bin and it all fell out. No scrubbing needed at all.
So I'd recommend absent minded OSers trying my method next time the burn food onto the bottom of their pans!!

Was it black? Otherwise, I'd have added a little water and used it as a sauce on something. Redwine is delish reduced by itself.
