Good Value Cheese?

I needed some cheddar today, nipped into Tesco (which I don't usually shop in) and was surprised how much cheese cost. Even so called 'offers' were expensive.
Went to Iceland instead and they had an offer. £2 (marked at £3) for 400g of extra strong cheddar, own brand. So that's £5 per kg which at current prices I thought was good value.

Tesco do two 500g mature blocks for £5. The iceland deal is good if you don't eat much.
Morrisons had 200g of mature grated for £1 earlier this week, which lasts longer in my house as I have a teenage cheese muncher . We get through at least 1kg per week.0 -
Most places have cheese on offer on a regular basis - my hubby loves his cheese sarnies so I buy it regularly too. I normally shop in Asda or Tesco and they Tend to have Wykes Farm or Cathedral City on offer - either the big packs or bogof and it's normally around £5 per kg. Even the Co-op had a good cheese offer on last week at about the same price too.
Alternatively Lidls cheese is cheap, but it's normally mild not mature.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Some of the lidl cheese's we have found to be mature or extra mature, i think the 1 in the black wrapper is strong0

it's always worth looking at the cost per weight, usually if theres no really really good offers pre-grated/sliced is cheaperDEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
I love it when Lidl has the blu packet Vintage Reserve cheddar at £1.44 for 400g! Lovely cheese with a good strong flavour. Only one problem - it goes quicker than any other cheese in our house. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Definitely it was a good value.0

I usually get the Buy 2 for £5 Tesco Cheese or BOGOF Cathedral City - there is usually some offer on0

Asda are currently selling 400g of Lake District Cheese mature for £2, which is half-price. We stocked up on an absolute mountain of it, but I think I prefer Asda's own brand which we usually get (600g for £3.58 - £5.97/kg)0

Just watch the weights of some of these cheddars. Cathedral City has recently repackaged with the weight dropping from 400g to 350g and the price has remained the same.0
