Must have kitchen gadgets

Kitchen is dinky and poorly designed, very little usable space! We have the coffee grinder (behind the cereal tucked away on an otherwise unusable bit of worktop), lime green kettle and toaster, Kitchenaid (in the corner, under the corner cupboard, another space that is otherwise unusable), the radio lives on the windowsill, and our microwave and freezer live in the living room, as does the slowcooker when not in use. Non gadget stuff on the worktop includes a knife block, breadbin with flat top so condiments can fit on top of it, some boxes of teabags and general clutter. To use the kitchen for cooking, a lot of stuff gets balanced on top of the bin, or just put on the floor, our baking trays actually live on the floor as there is nowhere else for them to go!
Just thought, there's also a hand blender in the difficult to get to cupboard, pots and pans live on shelves on the wall. The kitchen makes me cross, I have such terrible kitchen envy problems!0 -
Interesting. My toaster and x2 slow cookers live in a cupboard and gets pulled out for use and put back.
My microwave is in the utility room, next to the kitchen. It sits on top of the tumble dryer. That dryer gets used less than 10 times a year. Poor thing.
Last month I decluttered a lot of kitchen gadgets. Found them new homes. 2nd toaster, 2nd blender. My coffee machine went to a new home before Christmas as did a cake mixer.
I find I occasionally update to a better model on an item, then have 2. Till I bless the unloved one to a new home.
I do not have a bread bin. My bread has always lived in the fridge.
My vegetables live in the salad drawer.
I like to home oranges and grapes in the fridge too! when I buy them. They are refreshing to eat chilled.
One electric gagit is enough!;) I do not need 2 or 3 of the same things. I count that as clutterThe secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Out, we have a hob kettle, my beloved kitchen aid which was a combined xmas, everything pressie to the two of us and a microwave. There is also a fridge/freezer, a tumble drier and the washing machine.
In the cupboard we have a slow cooker, a toaster (gets used most days) and a cafetiere (is that a gadget?). I also have a stick blender and a hand mixer from the pre-kitchenaid days, which is useful for small quantities.
I'm pretty fussy about gadgets, the slow cooker is bordering on dead weight this year, partially because I need to make more of a point of working things into our menu plan that use it, and partially because it is a pain to get to where it is stored, but that may change soon:)
OH would like a coffee machine, and I would like the attachment for the KA that chops vegetables, but those are on long term lists.0 -
On my work surface i have:
Kettle: used a probably once a day
Tassimo: fallen out of love with
Toaster: used frequently throughout the day
Sodastream: novelty worn off
Juicer: hubbies impulse buy, hasn't been used this year yet
Kenwood chef:my baby....couldn't be without it
Microwave: used daily to heat hubbies breakfast0 -
OOh, almost forgot. I have a cake plate that has that week's cakes on it, a basket for all bread, a three tier cupcake wire basket stand thing which holds all f&v that isn't kept cold, and a wire rack thing with all the spices on.0

Actifry -used often n have even started using it for reheatin food by removing the blade (quicker n cheaper than
putting oven on[/QUOTE]
what sort of things do you heat in your actifry? I use mine 3 or 4 times a week - love chips, wedges and roasties done in it. It's out on the worktop along with kettle, microwave, bread machine and easiyo. If my cupboards were bigger the breadmachine would live in a cupboard.
Also knife block and chopping boards.0 -
I have big kitchen with a lot of work surface. On the work surfaces I have a kettle, coffee bean grinder, a cafetiere (half full as I've just made a pot of coffee), a toaster, a microwave, a set of 4 Joseph coloured chopping boards (tucked between the microwave and the oven housing and a big bowl of fruit.
I have a few gadgets, Kenwood chef, hand held mixer, stick blender, electric mincer/grater, halogen oven, sandwich toaster, deep fat fryer, juicer, and a breadmaker. The deep fat fryer is kept in a cupboard underneath the oven housing, the stick blender and accessories along with the hand held mixer are kept in a cupboard above the oven housing and the rest are kept in a walk in cupboard in the utility room.
I don't like a lot of stuff out and it means I have more room to make a mess.....
Forgot to add pride of place goes to a Down on the Farm Lulu the Cow butter dish - the lid is a black and white cow lying down on the base...OH hates her....0 -
Forgot my bread bin, fruit bowl, cake box and tea coffee, biscuit tins also live on the worktop0

I have a kettle and a toaster, which get used lots.
A microwave which we use most days for vegetables.
My bread machine, slow cooker and food processor are in the cupboard but easily accessible. My electric carving knife, George Foreman grill and juicer are tucked away at the back because I never/rarely use them.
I'd love a kitchen aid and have been toying with an actifry but I'm not sure I'd use it enough.0 -
Microwave, steriliser, kettle, toaster and that's it. Lol.
All used nearly daily0
