ASDA birthday cake, serves 18, reduced to £1.45

edited 6 July 2011 at 3:07PM in It's gone, but was it any good?
Just been searching for a birthday cake for DD and noticed in ASDA that their own large party cakes, in a yellow box and stating serves 18, are reduced from £6.50 down to £1.45. They had the yellow shelf edge label showing reduction.

The cake has no writing on it, just balloons.

The cake is best before 28th July so it's not just reduced due to date. The smaller ones, that serve 12, are still full price at about £4.50.

We checked that the cake did indeed scan at £1.45 then picked up another one to have tonight. Ridiculously cheap cake. HTH

Hi. Do these say happy birthday on them or can they be adapted for other occasions? Cheers!

Have just checked and it's called a Party cake and only has balloons on it so could be used for any occasion.
I will amend my first post.

    Fabtastic!!!!

Will certainly get one as an additional cake for a golden wedding anniversary party we are hosting. Not worth baking at those prices!!!!

    Top post OP!!!

It is actually showing as this price on the website! (Assuming this is the same cake?)

Brilliant, Thank you sooo much. Just what I need for a little party next week so rushed out and was delighted to find a few still sitting on the shelf.
I bought an extra one as have another Birthday girl in September, do you think it would freeze well, there's no mention of freezing on the box that I can see.
    Huge thanks xxx
