Virgin Media retention offer!!

£5.99 per month for first 12 month TV M and telephone line rental then increases to £11.99 per month for last 6 month... 18 month contract in total
I called to cancel my services as I no longer require their internet services.
I was paying £21.99 for 2MB internet, tv M and included line rental also (this was also a retentions offer as I originally had a bigger package but was trying to cut costs last year) Didn't think it was a good offer anymore as have alternative internet arrangements now through work for free.
I told the lady this and she tried to sell me a package for TV M and line rental at £15.99. However I wasn't happy with this and put in my 30-days notice.
The next day I got a call from Virgin and they offered me the same package that I had been offered for £15.99 for only £5.99 inc vat, line rental etc for 12 months then increaseng to £11.99 for last 6 months.
I was really dubious so didn't post this until I received confirmation.
Am delighted as now I can keep catch up TV and home phone wont be made redundant now!!
Also this was the best deal for my needs but there were other deals too. Basically the moral of the story is not to take first deal they offer... put in 30-days notice... they will call you back with better offer following day.
Hope this helps

Thanks so much OP!
I'm leaving them in October and thought I was DEFINITELY leaving them nomatter what they offer me ... But might see what they come up with after I give in my notice and glad I won't be enticed back by their first offer
In fact it will actually take ALOT to entice me back as have always found them over priced AND have had ridiculous ongoing problems with internet in my area... Not brilliant CS either , so we'll see ( they might make me an offer I can't refuse! lol )0 -

I have read this so many times and generally speaking it is true BUT I was with Sky a few years back, tried to get a better deal they said no, I said I am leaving, gave them notice and never heard a thing.
Been with Virgin ever since, which reminds me my contract is nearly up0 -
i done this a few years ago, I was paying around £85 a month for xl tv pacakge, talk unlimited phone and the internet 10gb. I phoned to cancel and they gave me my cut off date, the next day they phoned me with an offer of half price telephone, i refused..... next day half price tv, i refused..... on the 3rd day after the third call i came out with half price tv, telephone and broadband package and a brand new v + box. I phone every year and ask them to cancel my package and they phone within a week to get me a better offer, i dont think ive paid anymore than £50 a month for my services in the last three years, and with the tivo coming out soon, i might just try my luck in september and see if i can get one of those! Ive been a customer with Virgin for around 15 years. Had Sky tv for 3 years about 5 years ago and didnt like customer service and once they have you, they dont give a monkeys, virgin at least try to keep you as a customer!:T0

I rang to cancel my broadband as am so fed up with the interruption to broadband service in my area and I know maybe I should have insisted on cancelling and then wait for another possible offer but I caved in!
I am glad I took the offer they gave me as if I had cancelled knowing my luck I'd never hear from them again! lol
So its not as an amazing deal as some people get maybe but I accepted a 12 month contract with high useage broadband and unlimited telephone ie free landline calls all day for £18.50 per month
I was paying £15 for the broadband alone so an extra £3.50 for line rental and 24/7 inclusive calls is okay for me I reckon!
They also said I would not be affected by the telephone price increase coming up & it would stay the same for 12 months and also told me if I get a disruption to my broadband service again they will send me a free dongle to use for the month as a back up! :j
All in all very pleased I stayed with them in the end.....
It might be a good time to change your contract if there is going to be a telephone price increase and you can avoid this on a new contract???0 -
