Please can someone help me work out holiday entitlement??

Hi i have recently started a new job and so far have only had my principal terms contract (full contract due in any time)
Anyway i am trying to work out my holiday entitlement.
I work 24hrs a week and holidays are 20 days per annum pro rata plus 8 statutory holidays to be stipulated.
So how many days am i entitled too?
Does it matter that i do my 24hrs in one hit? (i work a 24hr shift)
If anyone can figure this out for me i would really apreciate it as i am very confused!

I would guess care work. Late shift, sleep in followed by early shift.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

9.30am-10am I work in a childrens home on a job share, should be 2 on 2 off but i do 1 on and 4 off :-)
Thankyou so 1/5th is 4 days a year. Do i get all the bank holidays aswell?
Am i right in thinking that if i booked a day off i'm supposed to be working i would be paid for the full 24hrs but wont get my sleep in allowance?

Unless you want to ask your employer now, wait until you get your full particulars. Then you will find what is actually written about the "8 statutory holidays".

For someone working only one session (however long) a week, I would not expect them to get the equivalent of 8 days "bank/statutory holidays". You should receive a pro rata amount compared with someone working 5 days a week. Given that 20 + 8 days is the statutory minimum for someone working 5 days a week, then I would expect that the pro rata is not just of the 20 days but also of the 8.

Your minimum entitlement is to 5.6 weeks holiday. Your week is the hours you are paid for in that one session.

How many hours per week would be full time?

You would need to know this and then work out pro rata your leave in hours including the Bank Holidays.

It would not be 1/5 unless full time is 120 hours per week!!

All very confusing isn't it! As i am not planning any holidays just yeat will hang fire until my full contract is sent to me! Shouldn't be to long as was stated 8 weeks into the position and currently on week 6.

The legal requirement is to give you written particulars no later than two months from the start of employment, so 8 weeks is within that time.

1 on 4 off is not the same as 1 day a week for 1/5 prorata.

There are a number of ways to calculate holidays but prorata of 28 days

With 1 on 4 off would be 73 shifts a year.

28 days per year for full timer, you work 1 day a week so you are entitled to 1/5 of 28 = 5.6 days.
so, you are entitled to 5.6 days off with 24 hrs pay for each day.
