Problems with wedding invites

Hello guys, card related problem here, tried sticking it on the card thread but haven't had an answer yet and really want to try and get on with the card making as I'm doing quite alot of my wedding stuff myself!
I'm trying to fix ribbon to the front of my wedding invitations, is there anything suitable that wouldn't show through?
And anyone recently bought a cheap glue gun (to attach wire butterflies!)don't want to spend a fortune for this one job?

Glue dots. We used them when we made my friend's invites and favours. I absolutely hate Glue Dots but they worked.

In fact, I hate them so much that my friend gave me some as an extra bridesmaid gift at the wedding

How big is the ribbon? For my sister's wedding, we fixed the bow at the front with clear double sided stickey tape...we cut them into very small squares so you couldn't see them...fiddly to work with but very effective.

If you are using an organza type ribbon you need a tape this is invisible. I would suggest one of the double sided tapes that have the red backing. As a bonus it is super super sticky and your ribbon won't come off. This is the sort of thing I mean but you might be able to get it cheaper elsewhere.

Clear Silicone glue might do the trick if you apply thinly...:)

i find double sided tape is best, the glue gel is ok but is quite thick so if you want your ribbon to lay flat its not so good neither of these show through, not tried glue dots though
