i am currently unemployed, searching for work(i have a interview this evening),whilst studying for my ecdl, which is free.i was wondering if the government would subsidise or loan me the money to pay for a comptia course to enhance my chances of employment.there is a initial cost of £100 deposit, followed by 6 monthly payments of £75.it is a online course, although the test is in a classroom.

I've not heard of anything like this but if you are claiming JSA for example, could you perhaps ask them whilst you're signing on?0

You won't get any funding for a course like this, particularly as it's so expensive.0

Can you enlighten me on the course. Not sure what a comptia course is. Thanks.0

its an IT course, proper name is CompTIA0 -
OK thanks. As this is a US course there will be no funding here. Is there not a UK equivalent of the course? The website does not really give enough detail to be able to offer an alternative for which there may be funding available. Can you tell me what the course covers, the level of the course and the qualification at the end of it, I can then search the Learning Aim Database which lists all accredited & non-accredited fundable courses.0

you can do CompTIA training(well classroom training) over here, the site i have up now allows you to select what part of CompTIA to study and you select your area in the UK or closest 1 to you.0 -
I saw that but was wondering if there is an equivalent course that I could find some funding for.
Added info:
Can you tell me which compTIA course you are looking at, the list from the Learning Aim Database gives
CompTIA A+ 602
CompTIA A+ 603
CompTIA A+ 604
CompTIA A+ Essentials
CompTIA Network+

OK, that helps thanks.
I guess you are looking at a career in IT, possibly IT Technician then (big assumption but go with me!).
You could also look down the NVQ & Apprenticeship route.
There is a very strong apprenticeship framework for IT Practitioners which is at Level 2 or 3 and includes an NVQ in IT Practitioner (2 or 3) and either Level 2 Certificate in ICT Sytems & Principles for Apprentices or Level 3 BTEC Award for IT Practitioners depending on the level you are at (likely Level 2 if you are entry level or slightly higher).
Might be worth looking at your local college or apprenticeships dot org to see what is available in your area.
Certainly here there are more companies willing to take on an IT apprentice than candidates.
The pay for apprentices in IT is usually higher than NMW as well.
Hope this is of use and not too off topic.0
