Paid for one item twice on till receipt only got one

Hi this many sound well petulant but anyways...

I went to Woolworths Thursday and bought an item for £2.99 (chocs) and when looking at my receipt last night I noticed it scanned twice, now I know it is not loads of money but all the same £2.99 twice for 6 walnut whips seems steep to me.

Can I do anything as I cant prove I didn't have two?

Any advice?
Cheers Bex

    Hi
I had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago at Asda, something was scanned twice by mistake. I went back over a week later and showed the lady on Customer Services my receipt, she refunded my money and gave me a £2 gift card:j .
Just try taking your receipt back into Woolworths, hope you get your money back.

  • Hi,

This has happened twice to me lately. Bought a BOGOF offer, she scanned one box and stuck in 2 items at the til, and then scanned the item that was free as well.

I have started to check my til receipts carefully now. Just wish I had the bottle and time to go and complain!

    Regards

I always check my receipt now before leaving the shop as this has happened so many times.

In the past if I haven't noticed till I have got home I have rung Tesco's - worst offender for overscanning - and asked them to note it in their daily book. Then next time I'm in the store I collect the refund.

  • Hi,

I always have this problem with Tescos. I have never had it with Asda or Sainsburys. Thats why tescos make so much profit!!!

I work for somerfield and part of my job is doing refunds for stuff like this. Personally as long as I can see the item is double listed together on the receipt I will usually just take the customers word that they didnt actually have two to begin with, obviously if someone is taking the mickey by claiming it happened every time they shopped with us then of course I have right to say 'sorry, you need to check your bill before you leave the store' but to be honest I've never had to do that and frankly I would feel terrible if I did.

It's been a week and I dont have the bottle now, annoy's me though!

I have put it down to experience but I know the SA who served me doesn't like me so that is one reason I have put off going back,is a snidey thing to do though if she did it on purpose.

hi, my wife got caught out with this at the NEXT boxing day sale. she wanted two receipts , one for some clothes for our son, and one for her stuff, reason being that we wanted to use gift vouchers we received at christmas for some stuff. but, theres was a problem with the system and vouchers were not being accepted.

anyway turns out they managed to put a pair of jeans through twice (once on each receipt!). went back today and they reckon there's nothing they can do about it, especially since its on different receipts, should've checked them before leaving the shop......

Go back & request to speak with a manager! This happens to me EVERY sale. I guess it's because it's so manic with large queues of customers waiting to pay, they normally have 2 staff per till, one taking off security tags & the other bagging it & tilling it. I normally but at least 25 items, so not an option to check it all prior to leaving the store but when I get home I always check, the last 2 years, I have waited a couple of days, then gone back with all the unwanted items & pointed out their error, they have simply refunded me without question.
