How do the DWP check up on your job search?

I am currently signing on and have been on JSA for 10 months now. I have been applying for jobs and not had any luck. I am trying to get something in my field or maybe go self employed but have been applying for general jobs as well. Some I do want but others are just to put in to make my job search diary look full.
I applied for a retail job the other week thinking I'd never get called for interview but they have just sent me a letter inviting me to interview. I really don't want this job it is too difficult to get to and not enough hours also they are now saying it is a temp job which wasn't advertised.
I don't want to go to the interview or take the position. This is not a job that the job centre "job matched" me with although I did get it off their website and wrote it down in my job search diary. I would like to just call the company and tell them I can't make the interview or that I have already found something.
I think that the job centre only really check up on jobs you apply for which they have matched you with but I am worried that they might check up on this job.
Anybody know if they check up on all the jobs you apply for?

being realistic here how far distance is this interview ?, i dont think they do check well they havent with me. If its a distance then why apply for it, surely you have agreed with the JC how far you would be prepared to travel for a job.0 -

The only thing I'd do is make sure that you apply to even the ones you're marginally interested in in case you're asked at a JSA interview.
Thanks, mostly I do apply for jobs I'd be happy to take but sometimes there isn't much available. Most of my energy is put into getting something relating to what I spent 7 years at university studying but the job centre made me take it off my job seekers agreement as it wasn't "realistic" i.e. it's not the sort of thing they get in.0 -

It is in the middle of an industrial estate on the outskirts of town. I'd have to get a bus into the middle of nowhere and then walk for a mile and a half to get to there and I'd have to cross a motor way. If I could drive and had a car maybe but honestly I just don't want to work for them.0 -

there are other sites to look for jobs other than the JC site also you agreed with the JC to use 3 search options, why not use the other 2 to look for jobs0 -

Mostly I do but I actually saw that one before I went in for an appointment with my advisor and I suspected I would be required to apply for it so I applied for it myself so that they wouldn't check up on it. It sounds bad but I really am looking for work it's just that I need something more suitable and sustainable not a temp part time retail job. I'm sure somebody who really wants that job will be get it and appreciate it more than me.
I just really want to know if the job centre will find out I turned down the interview, as I did find the job on the job centre website but it wasn't an offical "job match" job.0 -

the jobs i apply for i just say "applied for job at x" or sent my cv in reference to job ad on direct.gov,
did you put the actual job ref number down,
also what does it say on your form about travel eg mines 60 minutes as i have a car, so yours might be less,[STRIKE] id call and say you cant make the interview[/STRIKE]
if you turn it down you could be out of work for months on end where as if you go to the interview and if successful accept it you will have a job albeit only temporary,0 -

I didn't put a job ref down but when my advisor brought up my matched jobs she was about to point it out for me when she said she noticed I had already applied for it.
When you go in for your appointment they take your job seekers diary off you and give it to your advisor but I don't know if they typ into their system all the jobs you have applied for or if they just note that your applying for jobs and meeting the requirements of your job seekers agreement. Also as this job was advertised by the job centre will they just call the HR woman at the company and ask about who they selected for interview etc or would they only be able to ask that specific information about those they job matched on their system.
Obviously if they find out I turned down an interview for a job that fits my agreement it would be pretty bad for me.0 -

im on jsa so i know what happens, you could go to the interview and see what they say, they might even get back to you and say you were unsuccessful. I know what i would do,0
