i lookwed at these instore recently, they weren't worth the sale price let alone the RRP. When i looked into reviews they all said they are very heavy bikes with poor quality components.
If you have a look at Decathlons website for a similar price their bikes are much better rated.Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0 -
Agree poorly made Chinese Junk, half price does not mean half everybody else's price..blue_haddock wrote: »i lookwed at these instore recently, they weren't worth the sale price let alone the RRP. When i looked into reviews they all said they are very heavy bikes with poor quality components.

Mt old bike that is currently in my shed is a muddy fox which is approx 14 years old, its alloy rather than steel and has a much better set of components on it. these bikes may carry a good name but they are definetaly built very cheaplyCover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0

All 3 MuddyFox bikes Tesco are advertising have alloy frames - so I don't really understand that point of your argument? All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -
I think the main point is that the 'consumables' parts of the bikes are poor and wear out extremely quickly.
I bought one of the Terrain bikes about three years ago, for what was an apparent bargain of £40 - within 2 weeks to 3 months I had to replace both wheels (became bent), both sets of brake pads, the gear cog on the back wheel (plus buy a tool to remove the old one), the chain, plus buy some mudguards.
Within another couple of months, new tyres and inner tubes.
Oddly, after all that, I did not have to buy anything else. I used it daily for a commute to the train station, so only 6-7 minutes each way, not proper milage, but the basic frame was OK, and with decent components, it was fine. The message is to buy a better bike in the first place and not have the aggravation and cost of replacing everything.
With kids, they'll do a lot of damage (up and down kerbs etc) very quickly - it's not worth buying if you immediately have to start repairing parts as they break.0
