I find it hard to believe that you are going to get your money back wihtout all of the facts coming to light. So you may as well be completely honest with us on here.
You allowed your partner to use your card to pay off a debt. Was this with Wonga? If not, with who (as they might be a related company)?
Is it a debit card in your name on a joint account?
Did you make the payment yourself or did you give your card to your boyfriend to make the payment?
Have you (or him) got the terms and conditions associated with the payment made?
Now, here's the bit where you need to be honest. How do you think Wonga got hold of your card details?
Why do you think that Wonga thinks it had permission to debit your card?
If you ask Wonga what permission they had (and how they got your card details) what do they say?
Here's what I believe...
Your boyfriend either deliberately or without knowing gave Wonga permission to use your card.
Therefore Wonga have done nothing wrong. Out of order, maybe, if they're using small print to take the money, but within the law.
Either your boyfriend has done something silly (given card details thinking it was for a one-off payment and not realising he was authorising them to take more) or bang out of order (used your card without you agreeing).
Depending on which of those is true, you may be able to sue your boyfriend for the money. (Though that won't help as he doesn't have it.)0 -

Thanks for your reply, you are correct! He had the wonga account for a while, kept extending and then decided to take out the DMP. He used his card originally to pay for previous loans and then when he closed his account he was without an account for a few weeks while he got his ID changed to open a new account. So for his wages to be paid I allowed him to use my account and card as a one off to clear an existing loan so it didnt cause problems/charges.
I can't afford for him to pay me back in bits, I need it all for my insurance and bills.
I assumed that the Wonga loan was more recent, as it's clearly not been included in the existing DMP. Why isn't it? What was the "existing loan" you allowed your boyfriend to use your card to clear, if it wasn't the Wonga one?DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

I think this is a case of your partner using your card with wonga, assuming it was only for verification purposes. without reading the terms and conditions.
IMO your unlikely, to get your money back from them, as they are only fulfilling the terms of the contract agreed between them and your partner.0
