Inspired after Rick Stein's programme this week, I'd love to know a bit more about japanese cooking. Can anyone recommend a book or 2 to get me started please? Any basic recipes?

Go to http://www.japancentre.com/ and down the left side of the screen you'll see 'Japanese recipes, Bob and Angie'. Click on that, and then close the pop-up window that asks you to install Japanese characters - and the recipes will all display perfectly fine anyway!

The former is predominantly japanese but in the form of bento-friendly recipes and actual bento (japanese lunch boxes), but things could be scaled up/altered... the latter (just-hungry) is more japanese recipes, mostly intended for the home. Maki, who writes there, does some excellent stuff
