I'd keep the £700 in your a/c and draw the € from a cash machine. Get a few here to keep you going and then draw as you need them from an ATM in €uroland.0

Have you had a look at Martin's converter tool? http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/holiday-money/0

yeah I did - but i'd rather just go and get them than wait delivery ( don't know why) - so I guess maybe take it out there - is it not more expensive with bank charges etc???0

It depends on your bank - it can be quite expensive to withdraw money from a cash machine. You could check the usual places - like post Office currency, M&S currency. To get the advertised rates on the post office, you generally need to place the order online and collect. If you live near the border, they may be shops which exchange currency. I know there are a few in Derry. The downside of this is carrying a large amount of Euro cash with you.0

Yep just checked and Idoubt it looks as though my easiest and cheapest option is post office - order b4 hand ! I live no where near the border but am flying from dublin - but doubt i'd get a random exchange - so just change it and have it with me - i've got 300€ already so just another 700€ and then whatever else i'll use my card. - we're going to disney so will need it ! lol0

Last week I called at Central Station and withdrew 300 euros at Ulster Bank machine located there. Cost me £278 but does not tell you inadvance or if any charge applied. just shows as debit on mimistatement. Free car parking for 20 minutes at Central station.0

Best rate - as advised by a post office manager - is the bureau de change in the buttercrane, newry.
I had quite a large sum of euros to change recently - the post office were giving me £4800 for it, the bureau de change in newry gave me £5300.0 -
The Co-op travel in Omagh has a 1.80 rate today.0

Do the Northern Bank raiders not still give the best rate? :cool:0
