Seeking green/ethical investments advice

Hi all

Just wanted to see if I can get some tips & advice on investing some money into green or ethical savings.
I recently had an appointment with Nationwide who were keen on getting me to put my cash into capital bonds and shares but I dont like the idea of my money being used on things I have no idea about.

I have used my full cash ISA allowance for 2010 with Nationwide and could open another for this year. But I was a bit disappointed with my Nationwide appointment... I went in there to ask about ISA's and they didnt explain them to me at all, just spent an hour trying to sell me into other non cash investments instead. So I'm not sure if there's a better answer than ISA's?

Basically I have around £20k to play with and am happy not to touch this money for 3 years or more if it means a better interest rate or return etc.

I dont know a great deal about savings & investments etc but am hoping to get some impartial advice here as an alternative to Nationwide's agenda!

All this said, with whats happening to the economy at the moment in Europe (particularly Greece) and the potential for more serious problems later this/next year with the Euro, is it really still sensible to be investing in cash at the moment?

Any help or advice appreciated

Thanks

.... and with £20k you could have the option to tie up some of the cash for an even longer period and invest in some pv ..... probably much greener than a number of the options out there.

    Thanks

Not sure what you're referring to with PV??

Anyone else offer any more advice on savings & investments at the moment, given the way the economy looks set to go?
  • Zeupater meant solar photo-voltaic panels installed on your roof - the government pay a subsidy (known as the feed in tariff (FIT) for every unit of electricity you generate - irrespective of whether you use it, it gets sent back to the grid, or is simply wasted).

It can make significant returns but does rely on you owning your own property and having the available roof space to hold the panels (there are other non-roof options, but this will likely prove to be more expensive).

Ok thanks for that. At the moment we're not home owners but will definitely look at that once we are :-)
