Hello,
I am intending on buying ( and proposing ) whilst in las vegas in August. I know nothing about rings! tv's, cars, rugby, history of the Fiji Islands im your man but rings nout. This is the ring I am looking at
http://www.ultradiamonds.com/rings/2ctw-white-gold-round-princess-3-stone-engagement-4499
Its about what I intend to spend in dollars, any experts is this a good ring, good price compared to what I would pay in England.

thanks

Looks like a very nice ring, are you sure its the kind of ring she wants or likes.
She may like coloured stones, or solitaires, sorry but its hopefully going to be on her finger for a really long time.
I know you cant ask her but maybe get her friend/sibling involved.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I'd be happy with that! Looks really lovely...the one thing I'd want to check is the quality of the stones being used. They're graded based on clarity and imperfections...ideally you want one as clear as possible and with few imperfections because they sparkle better :)

What sort of hints worked on you? I thought blokes were oblivious to hints...must need to brush up on my hinting skills lol

Keep in mind that a ring purchased in the US won't have the hallmarks on it that a ring bought in the UK would have...I'm sure the intention is for her to wear it for a lifetime etc and you're not concerned about resale, but not having the hallmark could affect the value in the UK
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

I have something very similar, about a carat in total across the 3 stones, on platinum, made to my design in Birmingham's Jewellery quarter, I think it cost about 2k, not sure how that works out in dollars but should give you an idea. My diamonds are all certificated, and are good quality, trying F colour and VS1 clarity.

I don;t have the extra diamonds on the shoulders that your ring has, but small diamonds can be less good quality (although I guess colour would need to be the same, you could get away with worse clarity) and are cheaper anyway as there are more of them.

I think the ring is lovely but I think it lends itself more towards and eternity ring. The thing about US solitaires is they set them on very high mounts and they look fabulous. I had my engagement ring reset twice, once here and then again in the US. Although I got married in the US, I got engaged in the UK and the setting was quite low and butted up against my wedding ring leaving a space. I think you should consider a traditional solitaire and with your budget you will get something fabulous. Colour G - F will be very white.

But kazd, his girlfriend has indicated that this is what she wants.

Also, IMO an eternity ring should be at least completely half diamonds, or all the way round, not three stones, especially not with detailing on the shoulders.
