Is my microwave radioactive??

This is going to sound loopy but my husband is just as confused as me!!
I had our electric scales next to the microwave (which was on, cooking potatoes as you'll know from my other thread!) and it was flickering all over the place. I thought, I don't understand that.... I cleaned the bits off it :rotfl: and moved it, it stopped and it started to show 0g again....
Moved it back next to the microwave - flickered all over the place again!!! Called in husband who thought maybe the counter top is vibrating so he held it away in his hands... 0g... Held it near the microwave - flickering again!!!!
What's happening??!!!!

You do get emitted radiation close to a microwave and that is why it is important never to stand too close to it eg don`t put your face up to it to look in while it is working. The radiation strength decreases quite quickly with distance. In other words, this is normal and just take care not to be too close0

My husband often works at the kitchen table on his laptop, about twelve feet away from the microwave. Whenever the microwave is on, his internet connection dies. I asked somebody who claims to know about such things if this indicated a problem and was told it was normal. I suppose I'll start to worry when you can bring Google up on the microwave and watch dinner defrosting on the laptop screenFreddie Starr Ate My Signature
