hi, i bought a copy of trend micro pc cillin a few days ago and the Key that came with it wont let me register the program...
now i contacted the seller and they wont refund me (not yet anyway) im not sure what to do next, they were selling OEM softwares and i have bought another working copy from another seller, whats the best course of action to get it refunded?
hes started getting stroppy with his messages and told me to download this weird version of pc cillin (one i had installed already) when i try to register it (the key) it says invalid key and wont go any further..
thx for any replys i get

Why on earth buy an antivirus program, there are FREE ones available, one of the most used (use it myself for years) is AVG.
Goto
http://free.grisoft.com
yes the address is correct without the www
free download page
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5
program direct download is
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg75free_432a861.exe
The download is about 16meg so if you are on dialup get a friend on broadband to download it and put it on a CD for you.
ANY antivirus is only as good as the person using it ! and you must ensure that it is kept updated - programs will do it automatically for you but you must keep an eye on it in case another user fiddles with it !.0 -
not everyone knows this or they assume they are no good which is why this site is so great for 'spreading the word'
my MIL was about to spends a bomb on anti virus etc but i kitted her out for free in minutes and shes buying me driving lessons in exchange. not bad lol0 -
thx for the replies, il have to wait on the dispute its not been 10 days yet...
also i use AVG on my other computers, im just used to pc cillin on this machine (used it for 3 years now) plus i only paid 8 quid for it (shame i probably wont see it again and il get a neg for my trouble)0 -
would be tempted to try report him to trend (software producers) as it sounds like he's trying to get you a dodgy activation code.0

aye, trend are not much help im trying to persue them via email and they just tell me what i was told over the phone with them, il see how it all pans out i guess0

You have been sold a copy as a legimate copy would allow you to activate it up to 3 pc's, thats what I have done.
EDIT sorry the internet security is 3 pcs not sure on the anti virus but I suspect its a copy and the serial has been registered previously0 -
AVG now upgrading their software & it won't be free anymore. My computer man download "Kaspersky anti-virus personal" for me instead. Sorry I cannot help you with regards to its website maybe just type Kaspersky on goggle something might come up!! Hope this help.0

It's still free, it's just that the link that comes up from the old version to tell you there's a new version from January doesn't take you directly to the free one.
The new free version of AVG is at:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5
- obviously, click the button that says Download Free Version, not Download Commercial Version. They've also bought Ewido, who do some of the best spyware removal software around - that's now branded as AVG Anti_Spyware and the free version is:
