Silver Wedding

Hi

it's our Silver Wedding this month and I am planning a barbecue/party at home. I have been looking for plates and decorations with a silver wedding theme but can't seem to find anything other than plain silver plates (boring) so am looking for something a bit different and maybe less traditional.

Has anyone got any ideas please? Thanks.

I brought a COPUPLE silver wedding anniversary decoration packs from ebay- silver cut outs, bells etc, banners. Not a bad selection for about £7. (our silver wedding anniversary is in September) . I went to poundlound and got a load of wedding stuff( ribbons, place settings which we are using to identify whats on sandwiches etc at our party at home). The card factory has silver wedding anniversary helium latex balloons. Brought some organza chair sahes from ebay (delivery about 2 weeks so dont know if that would be adequate time for you) which we are draping around tables, dado rails etc inthe house- they were £10 for 25.
Congratualtions by the way to another old married lady! ( I feel a bit out of place on this thread with all the brides to be!).

Thanks MrsDrink and Murie. Both giving me excellent ideas! MrsDrink for the excellent links and Murie it sounds like you and your husband are gonna have one brilliant party and you are planning and preparing for it so well. I'm last minute as usual but thanks to your ideas you have guided me in the right direction. Congratulations to you for then and have a brilliant time. I know, it is nice to have something in common with someone rather than somebody just starting out. Mind you even after 25 years, it still feels like yesterday because doesn't time go so quickly?

you can get silverpaint in a spray can from art shops and spray paint objects or items that you like and might of picked up along the way. Also some art shops do silverleaf in books and have seen cake decorating shop/cooking shop selling edtable silver paint which you can use on cakes.

You aint wrong hun!! I really dont know where the time has gone- I'm still 21 in my mind -just wish my face was!

If you want a cake-M&S do plain ones that you could jazz up with a bit of silver ribbon and maybe get a diamonte 25 pick for the top from ebay or perhaps a local cake dec shop if you have one (or Hobbycraft ect). If you are really short on time and they havent got them instore, I am sure I have seen plain cakes in Asda.

We have ordered a cake and the "old man" (he would kill me if he heard me say that-lol!-but he is :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) has scanned in a photo of us cutting the cake at our wedding which we are putting in a cheapo siilver frame on the table next to it. Sort of then and now type of thing.

If you are doing a garden party you could have a go at making some 25 bunting (if you are crafty). perhaps something like a plain triangle with 25 on it followed by a silver paper one that would be cheap and fairly easy to do- would look nice strung around the garden. I have seen on here a few brides using decorated jam jars with tea lights in- they would look pretty after dark. I have brought some bird cage type holders from poundland that I am going to stick silver 25's on ( a sheet from ebay again will be about £1 and you will get loads out of these).

(I wish I had thought of these things before I went and spent a fortune on stuff-but that was before I cam onto this thread and saw how creative (and thrifty) some of the brides to be are!)

Whatever you decide to do I hope you have a wonderful day! Enjoy it - before you know it , it will be time to think about our Golden Wedding Anniversary parties!;)

BTW- just re read my original post- looks like I had been at the vino when I wrote it!

you could make a board of memories...and get everyone to sign it......and then frame it with a photo of you now...or maybe 2 photos one then and one now..a bit like a guest book that doubles as a picture.

Did your wedding have a colour theme...how about recreating that colour mixed in with silver now..or have some of the flowers on each table

You could turn back the clock and have an 80's night with music from the time you married...although maybe I wouldn't go as far as to insist that the women wore ra ra skirts and legwarmers.....

I'm guessing that if you married in july 1986 you also shared your wedding month with a royal wedding?
