Bankers Draft Wrong First Name

Suggestions please
We have a sick Uncle MND who has given my wife a £10k bankers draft and told us to 'Enjoy It'!!
Problem is Uncle has made the draft into her Irish family nickname M***** then correct Surname.
The draft has the correct initial M and the correct surname.
Her bank won't accept the draft as it's not exact to the name on the account. She was told if it was for less than 10k it would probably go through with correct initial 'M' and correct surname.
The easiest option is to get Uncle to change the draft but he's a very sick man and we don't want to have the hassel of going back to the bank.
'M' has no account or photo ID with in her Irish nickname (first name) plus surname.
Anyone out there had this problem?

I think you're just going to have to ask him for a new one.0

If you don't want to hassle the sick uncle then just throw the draft away - what you never had you won't miss!
If you don't want to do that then he has to return the draft to his bank in exchange for a new one.
There is no way around this.0 -
Change your wife's name by deed poll (15 minute job at solicitor), register that change with the bank, deposit the draft, change it back again. No free lunch, and no free laptop
