Empty Shelves in Asda?

Has anyone noticed lots of gaps on the shelves in Asda recently or is it just my local store? Those 'temporarily out of stock' notices seem to be breeding! I noticed it last week and commented to checkout person who told me they'd been very busy earlier. Same again yesterday, same reason given.

This is is at about 4 p.m on a Friday which is fairly usual for me. I'm finding it really irritating because I either end up with more expensive alternatives or have to go to other shops.

I plan to go a bit earlier next week and see if it makes a difference.

  • Not sure but I received my Asda homeshopping delivery today with no subs or out of stocks. My local Asda appears well stocked but it is well worth remembering that it is the end of the month and trade picks up vastly as loads of people do there monthly shop

Yep. Happens *all the time* in my local ASDA, particularly with those items on offer. One week I went at 10 am and they had hardly any fresh fruit/veg, while Tesco was stocked like Christmas Eve. Solution? Go to a bigger ASDA.

Went in for cartons of juice for my girls' packed lunches and most of them were OOS. I imagine they are downsizing the cartons from 250ml to 200ml and need to get rid of all the old stock before they put out the new so no one will notice.

Not Only Asda. I was in Tesco on Thursday about 9am and the stocks were very low. Usually shelves are stacked throughout the night, but staff were stacking shelves and the aisles were full of huge crates.

Some stores have cut back on nightshifts to save costs.

I was in one supermarket- mediumish- big chain where staff were u happy about it. They now fill more in the day early in the week and do a nightshifts atbthe end of ten week when it is busier.

Not so much empty shelves in our local ASDA just no fuel since they announced petrol would be no more than £128.7 earlier this week.

    I've been Money Tipped!
When I go to Asda in search of offers there are often big gaps on the shelf especially if it's a really good offer. When they were selling butter for 50p someone had stacked the wrong butter by the lable so I was charged £1.10. Off I went to customer services, they checked and appologised. I explained I'd made a number of visits in search of 50p butter without success and they kindly let me have my 18 blocks for 50p after all. Gave me a refund and were so helpful and friendly, now why can't they be like that in T's
