Car 'wrapping' - is it worthwhile?

Options
I've just discovered a thing called 'car wrapping' where you have advertising stuck to your car and get paid to have it on. The site Ive been looking at is https://www.comm-motion.co.uk Has anyone else tried this? Is it a big con? I own quite a distinctive car so was thinking that this may be a good idea. My reservation is does the 'wrap' damage the paintwork?

Any thoughts would be helpful, it seems a bit too much like easy money.

    Hi

I own a Smart car and I applied to have mine wrapped... never heard a thing off the company offering this. It does all depend on your routes that you take. If you parked a car in the City centre all day then you are more likely to be picked out.

Remember aswell, you are distinctive in a wrapped car, so potentially your car could become a target to vandals and theives.
  • Thanks. Well that pretty much rules me out! I'm too tight to pay in car parks so I park on dodgy housing estates and walk miles into town! The only people seeing my car are the local cats. Still it might be worth investigating further.....
  • Also they say they put a GPS tracking thing in your car to check you do go where you say you do.... am slightly worried about what they may do with this information....

Do you have a lengthy or busy route to work?
I think I was not picked out because most of my commute is through countryside. I use no dual carriageways and I work on an enclosed site. I think if I lived in a town and worked in a heavily built up area my car would be selected for advertising. I guess by placing GPS in your car they are protecting their own interests and that of their customers, the advertisers using their services.

I think the use of GPS could be used to feedback to the advertiser, as to whether they are receiving the exposure that was originally agreed between yourself and the wrapping company.

In hindsight I am glad I did not go down this route, as I would have to clean my car more than I do at the moment. I am more annonymous. The car is not a target when parked. The car is not a target to idiots on the road either.
  • Having had to drive my husbands sponser car around with his employers name and his name written on it for almost 3 years, i would never do it again !!! The car was a freebie, but we had nothing but hassle.
  • I drive sbout 60 miles a day on mainly A roads.
  • May I ask what sort of hassle you got funky footprints?

I reckon you would not be left alone because people would always ask about all the advertising on the car. It would be impossible to be annonymous. Wraps are generally more than just wording, they are ellaborate and would attract people. Is that were you are going with this funky-footprints????
