Child maintenance help

Ex has another child who he has never had any contact with. He had a CSA claim against him which ended a few years ago as the child and her mother moved abroad and he was no longer required to pay.
We split up last month and I have our daughter living with me. He agreed to pay me around 15% of his salary under a private agreement so I haven't contacted the CSA. I'd rather keep it a private arrangement if I can, due to the hassles he had from the CSA before.
Co-incidentally the other child and her mother have just moved back to the UK and he said he's had a letter from the CSA and has to start paying her 15% of his salary. He said he will have to reduce the maintenance payable to me. He hasn't given me any figures yet.
Just wondering if anyone could offer any advice on the best way to proceed with this?

My understanding is that for two chidren he has to pay 20 percent of his salary, split equally between the two children (10 per cent each). Based on another thread here, you may well have to go to the CSA to prevent the other mother getting 15% and your child less than 10%.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

As per post #2, don't forget as well if you block contact or refuse overnight you get the full amount where as if he has your daughter overnight he may well get a further reduction, what you gotta ask yourself though is 10 or 15% of his net gonna do much? You will have to cough up the majority of cost

Thanks for the help.
There's no overnight contact at the moment due to circumstances, but that might change in the future. It's very early days yet.
I wouldn't totally block contact as that isn't fair on my daughter or him.0 -

Are you actually trying to suggest that she refuse overnight contact between her ex and THEIR child so as to not incur a then justified reduction in the child maintenance?"Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

Indeed, but the main juice of the post was "what you gotta ask yourself though is 10 or 15% of his net gonna do much? You will have to cough up the majority of cost

My understanding is that he has to pay 20% split between both children. However as the CSA effectively only know about one of the children they have awarded that child 15%. For him to say that he has to cut yours to pay for the other child is crazy. Advise CSA and you should at least get a fair split - tell him that is what you intend to do. He may well try and renegotiate yours but remember as the CSA are involved with the other child then they will ensure that mother gets 15%!0

So you're avoiding answering my question then."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
You can have a CSA calculation done (so they take your child into account when working out the other child's maintenance) but still be paid by him privately. However if he's paying them for one kid anyway then there might not really be any point. They do need to know he is paying for another child though."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0
