What happened to the guy Martin mentioned in an email?

I think his name was talhedin or similar. He received a lot of support and I followed his story to a point, now I'm wondering if he had an update. Anyone remember him? IIRC he had a large insured dog, 5 kids, a New Scientist subscription and savings for his children. Can't remember anymore, sorry!
