Removed from shifts until i get a bank account

I have started a new job with an agency who when I registered I told them I would need my wages paying into my girlfriends bank account whilst i try and get an account of my own ( i have tried all high street accounts and had no look even with a basic account ) I am going to be banking with thinkbanking and i am waiting for some id to come through so i can get it.

They agreed to pay the money into my girlfriends account but last friday there was no money put into her account. I queried it and they told me they cannot pay it into her account and they would issue me a cheque but only on two occasions as this costs them 35 quid to do so :rotfl:.

I was expecting next weeks hours today and not had them I have been told i wont get any more work until my bank account is open .

This doesnt seem fair to me - Thoughts please

Agencies annoy me so much. Regarding the bank account my boyfriends wages have always been paid into my account with no problems on every job he has done agencies included.
  • This is for audit purposes if nothing else - you work for them not your girlfriend hence the reason why they're concerned although they shouldn't have told you they could do this if they couldn't. Sometimes managers don't realise the implications of what they say.

I would set up an account ASAP and keep your payslips. Is there a problem with opening an account?

I'm surprised they ever agreed to do this, TBH. Money laundering regulations are VERY strict nowadays! IS there nothing you can do to speed up your ID?

I agree. I am surprised that anyone would agree to pay wages into someone elses account, with or without your permission.

I understand - so it's because they need an official doc like council tax/utility bill with your name and address on. I've never done this myself but you're right, an online one might well require security in a different way.

    Best of luck.

Wow, Adecco?! They really will get themselves in a bind if anyone catches up with them about it as it's not just about money laundering. It's also an additional security check to a passport and checking your right to be in the UK. Naughty on their part!

I know this is a few years old but might be helpful. As far as i am aware it isnt illegal to pay into someone elses account
