Gift ideas for a two year old girl

Hi all
I have a beautiful Godaughter who will soon be turning 2. I don't have any children and am really stuck for ideas about what to get her. I need something that's not too heavy because I'll have to post it, as she lives over 150 miles away and I won't be able to see her before/on her birthday. I was thinking of getting a Disney DVD - Play.com have a great sale on at the mo! - but wonder if this is a good idea as I'm not sure if she's too young for films? I know it sounds silly but it's something of a minefield for me! If you have any other suggestions, then they would be welcome too!
Thanks in advance!

My goddaughter turned 2 recently and I got her clothes - a light coat and summer dress. A disney dvd sounds fine...some of the older ones might be a bit scary for her though like Snow White.
Her mother did tell me she wasn't happy with the 'tatty jewellery' someone had given to her...so maybe stay away from that as a pressie!:p0 -
My 2 year old and 4 year old love the Disney DVDs! snow white, cinderella, sleeping beauty etc... but they can be a bit scary! so it depends on her really. If you think they will be scary-perhaps a book of one of the stories?0

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions! It's so helpful being able to ask people who have experience in these matters!
I too thought that some of the Disney films could at times be a bit scary (I recall freaking out at parts of Beauty and the Beast when I saw it!) but I then saw a film about Tinkerbell which is a recent release and had good reviews from the parents (although not sure what age their kids were), so thought that might be a possibility?
I'll definitely steer clear of the jewellery - it hadn't even occured to me, to be honest! I like the idea of the book versions of the films, that would be a safer way of introducing her to the various princess themed films Disney do. I have bought her lots of clothes in the past (how can you not, little peoples' clothing is TOO cute for words!), so I thought I'd go down more of the 'gift' route this time around but not having a lot of experience of kids of that age or being able to see her regularly, it's hard to know what's suitable without asking the parents directly - and I kinda like the idea of the gifts being a surprise to them too!0 -
My daughter absolutely adores her playfood, she has the elc bag of fruits and vegetables and she loves going around collecting them up and puttng them in the bag. It's great for teachingwords and colours too, counting etc.
Disney is also a great one, tbh dd is coming up to 2 but wouldn't sit through a disney dvd she hasn't got the patience but she loves dress up and the little disney bags (theres a theme here)
She also loves her happyland playset with all the characters.
Alot of websites will allow you to buy a gift and send it straight to the receipient gift wrapped. This may be a good idea and let your daugter know that it is on it's way? It will save you heavy postage and not restrict you to 'lighter' items.Comping wishlist for 2017

Check out the post in the GRABBIT section regarding the sale / code at Mums the Word, 40% off everything with the code even sale items. They have Oskar and Ellen fabric tea / picnic / garden sets which I think are just gorgeous and a total bargain at almost 50% off, free postage too! I've brought a set to put away for my DD's second birthday... she's six weeks old today LOL0

My DD is just about to turn 2 and I don;t let her watch DVDs so wouldn't want one as a gift for her.
She loves:
play food
cars
trains (Tesco have a great £10 box with a bridge and track and trains, it's great value)
play cooking things like saucepans
Books - we like things with proper stories and she has three stories at bedtime so books are always wanted here!
Outdoor toys are great too, like water tables and slides, but obviously they are expensive
Go to your local ELC and have a look round - they have good stuff and not all of it is expensive!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
