And recently i applied for MBNA CC. They searched my credit report twice for the same application. Both records show up as a Credit Card. So I contacted MBNA and they asked me to write to them. Send a letter of complaint this week, lets see what happens.

I had the same with Halifax for a mortgage. I queried this with Experian and the extra search was gone within a few days.
  • NW appear multiple times on my credit record. Everytime they issue a replacement card, upgrade the account or upped the limit they are on my CR..

Really? They upped my limit by £500 in October on my request and upgraded my card to a gold account in November and there were no credit checks.

Second search by MBNA was removed now. Received a letter from them apologizing for an error.

Whats interesting is seeing people having searches removed cos their name has been spelt incorrectly.

I'm going to see if I can appeal to them about two searches on my file where the date of birth is wrong under the search.

Is this the same for anyone else? Also has anyone had any luck with having searches removed from their credit file?

    Thanks

Providing you did not actually open account and you really beleive that you did not authorise this you could try this letter, i have used it before successfully.....

Re: Unauthorised Credit Inquiry on my Credit File Experian

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I recently received a copy of my Experian credit report. The credit
report showed a credit inquiry by your company CIT that I do not recall authorising on the at the above address. I understand that you shouldn't be allowed to put an inquiry on my file unless I have authorised it. I would appreciate it if you can authorise Experian to remove the entry because it is affecting my credit rating.

Please be so kind as to forward me documentation that you have had the unauthorised inquiry removed.

If you find that I am remiss, and you did have my authorisation to
inquire into my credit report, then please send me proof of this.

    Thanking you in advance,

by the way duplicate searches can be removed quickly and easily either by contacting the company direct or by raising a query with the credit reference agency.

I did open an account with them. I'm just concerned that 3 credit searches lowers my credit score.
