Overpaying mortgage charges

  • I think you will need to call your mortgage provider & ask them as your questions are quite specific. Perhaps the £20 fee was because you were in the fixed rate period? It's worth digging out all the paperwork and call them with a list of your questions.

    As for paying it off now or later the general consensus seems to be as long as you have a bit of savings for "just in case" you should overpay whatever extra you have unless you can find a savings account with better interest. The other thing to bear in mind is if you overpay your monthly payment should decrease further enabling more overpayment.
